Quy Nhơn has a varied topography, being extremely diversified with mountains and forests, hills, fields, salt marshes, plains, lagoons, lakes, rivers, shorelines, peninsulas and islands. Its coastline is 42 km long with sandy beaches, abundant seafood resources and other natural products

Quy Nhon is a relatively unknown and quiet beach city compared to Nha Trang or Hoi An, however, this enables tourists to enjoy a laid-back atmosphere and makes it the perfect place for a relaxed getaway.

Although Quy Nhon is putting a modern appearance, travellers still feel the Cham culture which held sway in the area for centuries.

HOW TO GET THERE

BY AIR

Every day, there are flights that connect the port city with Ho Chi Minh City. There are also daily flights to Danang, which go to Hanoi four times a week.

BY TRAIN

Qui Nhon has a train station, but it’s at the end of a spur that connects to the main line 15 km north at Dieu Tri, which is the main station for the area. Dieu Tri station is on the Reunification Express with routes northbound to Hanoi, southbound to Saigon. 

You should book tickets at least a day in advance at the Qui Nhon Station for departures from Dieu Tri.

To get from Dieu Tri train station to Qui Nhon, aside from taxi, there is a public bus.

Quy Nhon has two seasons: wet and dry. The wet season is from October to February while the dry season is from March to December. 

Best time to travel

It’s best to visit this port city during the dry months to better appreciate the sights and enjoy the beaches. Though, early September is an ideal time to visit due to less rain and crowd, the best time to visit falls between June and August.

  • Ky Co Beach: Ky Co Beach in Nhon Ly Island is distant Quy Nhon City about 25km. It owns an unspoiled beauty so there are no many people know. This is considered as “the best heaven” of Nhon Ly because Ky Co Beach has a deep coast, quiet waves with the area of more 1km². This beach is the great combination of blue water, magnificent rocky mountain, and pristine golden sand. Ky Co is located in Xuong Ly where is in the eastern side of Chaozhou Mountain.
  • Twin Towers: Twin towers are a building located on Tran Hung Dao Street, Dong Da Ward, Quy Nhon City. These towers were built in the late twelfth century with bold Champa architecture consisting of 2 towers.

QUY NHON NIGHTLIFE

There is not much nightlife in Quy Nhon. There are no nightclubs or dance halls to visit. However, tourists who enjoy beer and other alcoholic drinks will enjoy their stay in the city after the sun goes down.

SHOPPING IN QUY NHON

Lon Market (or Cho Lon) is the city’s central market. It is a large modern building with a courtyard, where fruits and vegetables are sold. Unfortunately, the original structure caught fire in 2006. Reconstruction of the 650-kiosk market has begun; while the construction continues, visitors can buy from the stalls set up by vendors in the blocks around the old site.

Those who are waiting for the new market should do their shopping in the Co-op Mart in the meantime. The huge shopping complex is essentially a supermarket, but almost everything can be purchased here.
